1. Hi there Tal and Idan, you are behind the Peace Maker-Project... Please give us some basic info about you....
Tal: My name is Tal and I am 34 years old.
Idan: And my name is Idan 24 years old.
2. When did your musical careers start or let's better say: when/at which occasion did you get infected with psytrance?
Tal: In the early 90's a friend of mine expose me to this brand new sound that called Goa (Psy) Trance, I guess you can call it love from first sight, it was nothing I heard before and it catch me and still is ;)
Idan: My interdiction with this music was not a love in first sight like Tal had, this music was around me even before I liked it. Growing uo in my home with Tal around me effect me a lot (as he is my big brother).
And only in my late 18 I started to find a connection to the music, listening to producers, such as Astral Projection, Oforia, Dado, GMS and more.
3. And what was finally the point that made you start to produce your own tunes?
Tal: I started my career as a DJ playing underground music using my Dat's player.
And as a DJ I always was looking to play a different sound, something unique and during the year the more I played in parties I understand that I have to try and create my own music.
Idan: I used to visit in the weekend at parties and listing too much kind of artists, and always had the desire to create music, I believe that every one that really love this music and visit parties have the same feeling I have. To see how the DJ in party, festival, etc.. Take control and leading all. This is a good feeling! To lead a party into beautiful journey. I have in my mind still few sets I heard during my visits ib parties that will stay with me for all my life. This is the effect I wish to give!
4. Do you have any other musical background? (like many artists play "real" classical instruments for example...
Tal: I don’t have any musical background, I used to study how to become a sound technician. And I have a degree in sound studies. I used to listen to many kind of genre music just before I discovered Psy Trance, such as classic rock and new wave from the 80's.
Idan: Yes, I learn to play on the piano and the guitar for almost 10 years, during that time I used to listen to rock and ethnic music, during the end of my service in the Israel army I discovered (trough Tal) the Psychedelic Trance music, and after finishing my service in the Israeli army I went to study in an academic electronic music creation.
5. When was the project PEACE MAKER created? Who had the idea to join forces?
Tal: The 'Peace Maker' project was established in the beginning of the year 2006. Me and Idan are brothers - yes brothers from the same mother!
Since the year 2005 every one on of us was working on is own project, and during the beginning of the year 2006 we decided to join forces and since then we working toughtor.
6. Did you immediately choose the name PEACEMAKER? Or was this the result of endless brainstorming nights... And why PEACE MAKER?
Tal: The name 'Peace Maker' has a meaning, we have one planet and many people around the world are fighting between each other, and must of the fights don’t have even one good reason
We have the best example here in Israel, the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
To tell you the true I still don’t know what the reason for this fight is, I think we all can get along! Planet earth is big enough for all of us!
Psy Trance parties is a perfect place to find many kind of varied people from different colors and religions, we feel that this experience unite people!
For us a DJ or an Artist that plays in a party is making this experience coming to reality making peace trough the dance floor ;)
7. So you would describe the typical PEACE MAKER-sound as follows:
Tal: It’s hard for me to describe our own music style, we always trying to take inspiration from the every day experiences. And create something new and unique, keep the sound original and clear!
Idan: I think the perfect way to describe it will be Psychedelic Trance with Goa touch, using influence from many genres of electronic music.
8. You are alredy signed @ Planet BEN Records and you have already had some tracks released on several compilations...
So when may your fans expect your full length debut album??? Are you already working on it? We want PEACE MAKER in full length!!!
Tal: I would like to correct you, we are not sign in Planet B.E.N Records, we released 2 tracks in this great label, and more to come in different labels.
For our debut album we still didn’t start to work about it, we feel that we still have to release more of our music in different compilations and labels around the world.
9. What do you think about the actual development in the international psytrance scene? Things are changing rapidly... and sometimes they seem to change into a wrong direction... Is this just my impression from my Austrian point of view or is it the same in the different countries?
Tal: You can see and feel the major change that the Psy Trance scene had in the last years, back in the days (early 90's) it was very underground, the parties was smaller and the amount of people in a party was around 200-400 peoples, no flyers, SMS and internet posting in Psy Trance forums that inform you about parties in the weekend, it was underground and it was from ear to ear and only the real freaks was into it!
Today the parties called productions and the promoters trying to make it always for big amount of crowed, it's more commercial! But commercial is not a bad word. It's fun to play or to dance in a huge event with thousand of people!!!
