4. What's typical for your sound? What's typical "Patchbay"?
Strong groovy bass lines, deep atmospheres and acid/epic melodies!
5. What have been your performance hotspots so far?
Alex Grey's Art Gallery in New York City, Cosm. Alex was painting with his wife on the dance floor wile I performed live. The picture called Ayuaska, is a vision had in Amazon rain forest years ago that he decided to paint that night under Brazilian trance influence.
6. Are you only working producing as "Patchbay" or do you have any side projects, too?
Lately I have joined other projects like Yubaba, that is gonna play live for the first time in Symbiosis festival (California) in September with PatchBay, Eat Static, Ott, Hallucinogen In dub and many more. It's a lounge/down tempo project I have worked in during my first tour in U.S. this year, with DJ Pedro (Interchill Records-CA).
I also play for one year now, in a Dub band that works on fusions between all the typical Brazilian percussions and the classical dub format. It’s called Rhino Live System, and both this projects will be releasing albums soon. And at last, the Audio Visual show I'm preparing with VJ Matyas who also makes the images for Infected Mushroom's shows, as for Broadway Theatres and Hollywood movies lately.
7. What have been your releases so far? Which one was your favourite?
Under DJ Fred alias:
Eternity (Mandala Records)
Good Fellas (Materia Records)
Amazon (Ajuca Records)
Under PatchBay alias:
Imix - One (Patchmix - Album track 1 - Geomagnetic TV)
Puzzle - The Missing Piece (Album tracks 3 & 4 - Materia Rec)
8. You have joined Reality Engine now. When may we expect your debut album?
By now I am not thinking about it, as I got many different projects going on, and live shows booked for 2007. Reality Engine is and audio visual company that is gonna put out DVDs only so, I'll wait for the moment to do it with a label working exclusively with psytrance.
9. Some words about the actual development of the psytrance scene, what are the main differences about parties in Brazil & Europe?
Trance as I understand is all about changing, adapting, mutating....a rolling stone gathers no moss...(hehe). That's why I like it so much, learning how to deal with constant changes in your environment is evolution, the scene here as in the whole world is changing a lot lately from what I knew as trance back in 98, but I have been learning to love it the way it flows...
10. A world without music would be...
Dead! Life is rhythm.... listen to your heart beats!!!
